Patrick has a degree in music composition from Lewis & Clark College. He studied under Michael Johanson, Susan Smith, and Stephanie Thompson. After graduating with an honors degree, he began teaching and performing with a variety of music ensembles across Portland, OR. Patrick believes music - and music lessons - should be both fun and meaningful, and he brings an ear for detail along with a knack for drawing out the best in his students. Students have the opportunity to perform twice a year at the studio recitals.

Outside of teaching, Patrick spends much of his time composing for film, television, commercials, and simply for the pure love of writing. His solo piano works have accumulated over 200,000 plays on Spotify, and his commissions have been featured in national productions for organizations such as The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. He also recently completed the score for his first feature-length film.

Patrick teaches with a curriculum that balances the fundamentals of music and movement, and always takes students’ interests to heart as well. He has taught hundreds of students thousands of songs of all genres and varieties . He is a member of Music Teacher’s National association and has had multiple students pass the rigorous MTNA high-level syllabus testing, which require advanced technical skills, music theory knowledge, and the memorization of four difficult pieces from the classical canon.
